ARBITRATION COURT

WKSTPORT, March 20. The Arbitral ion Court, which has boon at Wcstport since .Monday, heard a case of alleged breach of award brought by ihe Denniston Miners' Union against the Westport Coal Company. The union allegod that- certain miners should have been paid threepence extra per ton for work done in Peacock's section of ihe mine, where, they alleged, there was a bad or false roof. The company contended that the roof was clean and hard, and the miners were not entitled lo extra payment, .ludgment was reserved. The court also considered the Wateiside Workers' Union's reference, reserving its decision. The Denniston and firaniiy reference? were liexi. considered, and an adjournment, granted to enable ihe. respective parties to hold a conference. It. is understood lliai most of the points at issue have been settled at this conference. The court, expects to leave for Gisborno on Saturday.
