The work of repairing the damage to Ihe pipe bridges which carry the water mains supplying Wellington from the Wainniomata reservoir began to-day, and tho contactors are conHdcnt that tile work will be completed in three weeks. The work will bo crricd on continuously day and night, tho latter shift being" aided by elcctric light. • Wellington s share in tho recent heavy ram was nearly 3in, snread principally over threo dnys-Satnrday - O.Win, Sunday 0,63 m, and Monday l.G7in, ihe Meleoroiogie.il Otllco. reports that plenty moro rain appears to be imminent. During tho past- 21- .hours the rain has \isitod most parts of Ihe country, and it is predicted that showers may again bo general.
