The ordinary meeting of the Mornington School Committee, held last evening, was attended by the Rev, I,V. Scorgio (chairman), Dickson, Sawell, Birt, 'Fori, Hazlett, Napier, Henderson, and Hope. The Head Master reported tho number on the roll as follows:— Boys, 230; girls, 208;— total, 447. The decreased attendahc-o was attributed to sickness prevailing in the-'district during the month. The attendance, banner went to ■ Standard VI three times, and Standards II and 111 tied once. Mr A. Matthews took up liis duties on tho Ist inst., and had entered upon his work ■with great energy and enthusiasm. Miss Graham, who acted as relieving teacher during August, gave every satisfaction. Owing to sudden illness in his family, Mr Turner, second assistant, applied for and was granted one month's leave of absence, and his place had boen filled by Miss Rutherford. Tho school Association Football Club succeeded in winning the cup presented by the Otago Football Association. Tho club played 12 matchcs, won 11, and drew one. The report was received and adopted. On the question o£ attendance, the Chairman remarked that in the infant department tho number was lower than it had been for many years.
