D.C.C. CYCLING SPORTS MEETING.

A meeting of tho Sports Committee of the Duncdin Cycling Club was held in tho Clubrooms, Dowling street, last night, Mr A. J.Sullivan in - the chair. The Secretary re-, ported that matters in connection with the sports meeting next. Saturday were progressing splendidly, numerous entries being received from both motor bicyclists and the ordinary wheelers. The two Arnsts,' Jaclc. and Dick—the former' of whom tho Warrnambool to Melbourne Koad Race rcoord, while Dick has tho paced milo record,—will compete; and Jack ; Chalmers, Australian champion, and Maurice Randrup will also put in an appearance. Up to the present nine entries have been received for 'tho Threemile Motor Race, E. J. Ritchie,; of Christchurch, ontering with bis two horse-power Minerva, on which he has put up some excellent times on Lancaster Park. Competitors range from Gore to Christchurcn, so that the champion rider at the meeting can safely call himsolf tho champion of the South Island. The motor" parade from tho. Octagon on Saturday should itself by a. noteworthy event in power-driven machines in Diinedin, the horse-powers ranging, from one and a-quarter in tho -.motor bicyclo to 10 hoise'-powcr in the cars. Mi D. Wall hae. beeji appointed to snpervieo tho starting of the machines, and will regulate the speed at whioh the cars and bicycles shall mn. The Naval Band also leaves tho ' Octagon'_ at about the same itinie for tho Caledonian Ground, and the City Conncil will ran a service of special cms to the gates. It wa9 decided to commence the sports at 2.30 p.m. sharp, and the list of.officials at tho meeting was revised and approved. As. this is the' only cycling.sports meeting likoiy to be hold in Diinedin this year, tho Dunedin Cyclim, Club is making every endeavour to niakt the meeting a success.
