NORTH DUNEDIN GYMNASTIC CLUB.

The Committee of tho North Dunedin Gymnastic Club, in their animal report, state tlmt it contains evidence of the club's marlted prosperity mid advance during the past year. The president's trophy -took the shape of a silver medal with gold front, and was won by slr J. Hobinson. The first prizo for this (the first grade) competition consisted of a, silver cup, the gift of the vice-president (Mr T, P. Farrn), the winner being Mr J. Koberts. Maitliuul—a- gentleman whose substantial practical encouragement to athletics 19 a matter for the silent appreciation of tlio various bodies throughout the city. At this competition there was a large gathering of friends and supporters of the club (including a number of ladies), who wore much interested in tho various movements of tlio competitors and tlio close contest which eventuated. Tlio previous week saw tho event of the second grade competition, two silver medals (from Mr E M'Nicoll and the club) constituting tho prizes! This also provided an exciting contest, MrV Mills being returned for tho first prize a,nd Jlr C. Chadwick tho sccond, The club furnished it team for the aunual competition under The auspices of tho Otago Gymnastic Association their representatives filling tho fourth position. During the coming season it is the committee's intention to organise a concert for the purpose of providing the gymnasium with efficient dressing rooms, lavatories, etc. is made to tho continued healthy condition of tho club s finances. Tho income for tlio year ivcs £14 15s 2d, and the expenditure £13 19s lid. Die committee have to convey their most hearty thanks lo tlio donors of the prizes abovo mentioned, to Jfr Alex. Black for his nctivo interest in tho club, to Mr F. Liggins for his kindness in acting as judge at the first grade competition, to Captain G. M'Donald for his untiring efforts on behalf of the members, to Instructor W, A. Gibb for his s.blc services, to Secretary C. Ferguson, audi to the Otago Gymnastic Association for their general kindness and courtesy to the club. Upon all members the committee urge the necessity of observance of the club's regulation " that members must punctually and consistently attend the gymnasium on training evenings," for by practice only is perfection Acquired; also, the desirableness of members bringing under tlio notice of outsiders (especially George Street School ex-scbolnrs) tho existence of their club and the benefits to bo derived from membership. Finally, the committee take the opportunity of conveying lo the press their appreciation of the kindness extended to them iu publishing reports, etc., of proceedings in connection with the club.
