I/ast night George Smith, a horse-trainer, well known in Dunedin, was going home with a friend along the Bay View road, when ho flipped off the pavement and fractured his ankle joint. Ho was taken to the- ' Hospital, where he is being tended. The jockey Mathie, who was injured in the Hurdle Race at Winsahii on Saturday,' at an early hour this morning showed signs of improvement, but had not yet recovered consciousness.
