Seamen's Union has filed with the clerk of awards'for reference io the Conciliation. Board a. dispute with thn Wellington Steam Ferry Company and the Miramar Ferry Company. Tho union claims thai these companies should pay their firemen .£2 63 per week and seamen £2 10s per week; all wage-, to be paid wec'r'.y. Tho other- demand* ere:—Overtime shall bo paid at the rate of 2s per Jicur: when "any ferry steamer is employed in towing for any distance the company shall provide food and', water for the whole crew when it is known thai tho -tow will extend over six consecutive ' hours; two firemen shall be carried, who shall work watch end wstch: tho hours, of labour within harbour limits for seamen and ' firemen shall he eight, from 8 o.m. till s'. p.m., with one hour for dinner between noffii and 2 p.m.; all hours worked over and above eight shall bo paid for at overtime rates; seamen or firomon working during meal hours shall be paid at overtime .rates, but no "man shall work more than five consecutive hours without a meal; when any seamen or firemen are required to attend on duty on Sundays or holidays, and having attended nro told they aro mot required ■ they shall bo paid not less than ss; preference for members of the union is also claimed,
