THE TORREY-ALEXANDER MISSION.

INVERCARGILL, September 30.

The Torres-Alexander Mission was continued in the Garrison Hall at mid-day today. At the starting hour the hall was fairly well filled, but at about 12.30 foundry and factory hands flocked in, and most of the. flooi space was occupied. As usual, Mr Alexander drilled the audience into the singing of a number of hymns. Before beginning his address Dr Torrey read the following telegram just received from Dunoclin:—"Glorious meeting of converts last evening,. and 89 testified—s7 men and 32 women. About'2oo others wished to sp-ealc if time permitted. Pour hundred and ninety-two names were handed in professing conversion, and nearly 300 children." Dr Torrey's l theme was. "God is love.'' While Dr Torrey rested Mr Alexander again led the choir', and congregation in singing several Gospel songs, and himself sang "Tell mother I'll be there." D,r Torrey's second address, which lasted till after 2 o'clock, was on Luke xiv, 18: "And they all with one accord began to make excuses." At the close of the service, besides calling for' converts to confess themselves, Dr Torrey asked for testimony from Christians, auil especially from ministers, and there were many hearty demonstrations of blessing received during the mission. A good crowd assembled at the railway station to bid the party good-bye, and as the 5.30 fain for the. Bluff steamed out all sang "The sweet by-and-bye," Mr Alexander leading from the stanchions between the carriages, where he had clambered.
