Fnuer (president) occupied the chair. The report of the retiring committor—in whuh tho ooinion was expressed that the improved status which the inMilute lm.s now acquired will result in a considerable augmentation of its memen-hip roll—having been adopted, tho following oflice-bearerK were elected fnr the ensuing term President, Mr •T. Hnfcliifon; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr K. 0. Huie; committer.—Messrs M. Cohen, 0. Fenwick. C. K. Jfriuffliton, \V, Judge, and T. J. "Walker; auditor, Mr W. J'hston; delegates to tho of the in?litnto: A. K. Cohen, »S. Sprang, and K. 0. Thomson. It was resolved io request Mr Oarncro?!?. M.TI.R., to again introduce the Lib?] Bill upon tho assembling of Par* liament, and further to urge the council to afford him all the assistance in itn power. A remit from the council of the New Zealand Institute, in which the apooinlment of a hoard of conciliation to determine nil matter* relating to the conditions of work and rate of pay of journalists mm proposed, was considered at some length, and a resolution expressing approval of it was rejected. An instruction to tho committee to arrange for a suitable welcomc to tho distinguished English journalists who will be visiting the colony during the trip of the Duko of Cornwall and York was carried, and tho question of the establishment of a benefit scheme for journalists was also remitted to the committer
