UNIVERSITY COUNCIL.
The monthly mooting of tlio University' Council was hold yesterday afternoon; proseut—His Honor Mr Justice Williams (chancellor), Dr Hockc'n, Profosror Sale, Dγ Buni3, llev. A. Cameron, Messrs .lames Allen, M.H.R..T. K. Sidey, Clurt, D. K. White, and Dr Shand. Before proceeding with the business, Profewor Park ami Dr Marshall, of the School of Mines, were presented to the council, and it was resolved to hold an inaugural meeting at which Professor Park will deliver an address. The date of this function is to be fixed later on. ' Several reports were received from various committees. ' The report on the Medical School was considered at some length in committee, and on the council returning it was resolved to appoint n cominitteo to go into tlio whole matter and put the cua of the Medical School into concrete form. • ' The Mining School t'ommitlcc reported ■that they had met the new teachers iii tlio school, snd had arranged to supply' a large quantity of apparatus which is urgently required for the proper teaching of the classes. ■Steps had been taken to procure some of this at once, the remainder will have to be sent for to England. , The Professorial Board wrote flitting that the. Walter Scott, Scholarship had been awarded to Alfred D. Human!, ant! that Professor Gibbons had been selected as chairman for the next throe years. In accordance with a motion by Mr James Allen, the report of the Law School Committee was again brought up and considered, nml, with several other raatlors relating to the Law School, was referred back to the committee for further report. \ It was resolved to advertise for applications, for the position of lecturer an Materia Mediea.
