MAORI HILL BOROUGH COUNCIL.

~ The Maori Hill Borough Council met last evening, and there were present the Mayor (Mr WVRobertson), and Crs Wilson, Steven, Frame, Harlow, Smith, Early, Mulholland, Ciowther, Watt, Pilkington, and Butler. E. Carter wrote requesting the use of the Council Chambers for Sunday night services. Granted at a charge of 3s 6d per night. The Secretary of the Charitable Aid Board forwarded a Circular regarding the payment of the council's contributions to that body.— Received.

The Secretary of the Roslyn Tram. Companywrote' asking the council'? approval of a proposal by the company regarding the placing of poles along the tram line in connection with their new line.—Received!

W. Carncross, MiH.R., wrote in reply to a communication regarding a grant for a road, and advised the council to try and get Mr R. Hay's report with all possible despatch as the Estimates were nearly made up, and a fewdays delay might mean the loss of the grant.— Received. .

William Wood wrote asking that the council would pass for paymenthis cheque for contract work almost finished.—Agreed to, subject to the work being passed by *.i.c inspector.

George Lawrie wrote calling attention to the impassable state of the footpath in the main road, Woodhaugh, and requested that screenings should be put down.—Agreed to.

About 24- ratepayers and residents of Woodhaugh petitioned the council to erect a fence on the left or .water side of the footpath from the bridge at the papei mills to Mr M'Glashnn's section, Leithton.—Tenders to be called for six chains of fencing to protect the worst part of the path.

A number of ratepayers petitioned for a footpath to extend along the main road, Woodhnugh, from Bishop's road to Glenloith. —Referred to the Works Committee for report. The Finance Committee recommended the payment of accounts amounting to £112 lie 3d, and reported that the bank, overdraft stood at £334 10s.—Adopted.
