The following are the results of the volley firing in the Dunedin-Oamaru portion of the Otago district for the Government prize money :— kifles. Average Volley. Mounted Rifles 618 The Port Chalmers Naval Artillery held | their annual meeting in the Garrison Hall, Port Chalmers, on Monday, there being present Lieutenant-commanding Waters (in the chair) and 46 members. The balance sheet and committee's report were adopted, tho former showing tbo financial position of the corps to be excellent. Interim reports from the Boating and Shooting Committees were also read and approved of. The Ca&irman, in reviewing the work done during the past year, congratulated the members on the progress made in the different branches of their work, both practical and theoretical; 48 members presented themselves for examination in submarine mining and gunnery, when 4.0 were successful in passing. The signallers also acquitted themselves remarkably well. Ambniknce instruction had beeu given during tho winter months by Sur-geon-captain Cunninghame, with very beneficial results. The shooting teams are to be congratulated on the very excellent position attained during the past two soasons, having an unbeaten record in company matches. As soon as the present supply of Snider ammunition was expended, the arms would be called in and Martini issued to the whole of th« members. The library was well stocked with a good assortment of literature, among which were a good supply of works of reference. The various committees were elected— viz.: Finance—The commissioned officers and C P.O. Irvine and P.O. Craig ; General—Members of Finance Committee, and P.O.'s Smith and Fisher, and Gunners Stewart, H. Montgomery, Godfred, and Hodge ; hon. secretary, P.O. Groves; librarian, P.O. Fisher; auditors, Gunners Godfred and H. Montgomery. As several appointments of P. officers would take place shortly the Commanding Officer intimated that competitive examinations would be held for the positions. The following are the names of those who passed the annual examinations for badges and certificates :—Submarine mining— C.P.O. Irvine, P.O.'s Smith and Coutts, Gnnners Anderson, Clark, Crawford, Colthorpe, Godfred, Hoskins, Millar. G. Montgomery, H. S. Stewart, Smith, Warden, J. Wright.
