CAVERSHAM COUNCIL.

Tho ordinary meeting of the Civeisham Council,, held last evening, was attended by the Mayor (Mr W. Bridgman), and Crs Burgess, Wilson, Rutherford, Hancock, M'Laren, Eae, Huston, and Cole.

The tender of Mr M'lntyre,. for forming M'Glashan and Cargill streets, amounting to £79 12s, was accepted.

Tbe Finance Committee reported that the sum of £1.4 16s 2d had been lodged in the b*nk since last meeting, and recommended that £143 7s 7d (general accounts), £5 3s 4d (water supply accounts), 10a 6d (St. Clair water supply accounts), and £3118s Id (sanitary rate account) be passed for payment. The committee recommended the council to make on Thursday, 9th April 1896, the following rates for the year ending 3lst March 1897:—A general rate of Is 3d in the pound, to levy the special rate of 3d in the pound as heretofore, to mike a sanitary* rate of 3d in the pound, to make the water rates the same as last year. The committee recommended the council to approve of an estimate of the revenue and expenditure of the year, which was appended to the report. The (revenue for the year waa estimated at £2585 10s.—The report was adopted.

The Drainage, Water, and Sanitary Committee reported having instructed the inspector to concrete the water channel in College street at a cost of £2 10s. The residents had promised to contribute £2 towards the work.—The report was adopted. - •

The Inspector reported on various works effected since last meeting. Tho Works Committee reported having instructed the inspector to procure 50 yards of screenings for asphalt, to surface Clark street, fco repair kerbing and fire plug i n Alexander tt«et, and report what was required to be done ar, Rockyside. The council were recommended to asphalt the footpath on the north side of Gordon street at a cost of £s.—Adopted. The council then went iuto committee.
