SUICIDE OF AN OLD COLONIST.

Ad old man named C. F. Rolls was found dead on the road »6 Calverden on Jacuary 17. The post mortem ehowed that death had resulted from prussic aoid. A letter was found on him in which he stated that he would commit suicide if be found his means t KhaiKited; that he was a colonist of 47 yeans' standing; and that observation convinced him (list a person of his sgft had no business to live in tho nowadays straggle for existence, unless ho could stoop to charitable cid.- The letter concluded: "After the above explanation, an inquest may be dispensed with, but if it cannot be avoided then tho eo-often idiotic verdict of temporary insanity." An inquest was held, and the jury returned a verdict of suicide while in a stats of temporary iusanity.
