ANGLICAN SUNDAY SOHOOL TEACHERS' UNION.

The annnal gathering of the Sunday School Teachers' Union of the diocese o? Danadin wm held yeitetday. There was a celebration:'. of Holy Communion at 8 a.m. in 86. Paui'ii Cathedral and evensong at 7.30 o'clock. At the latter the sermon was preached by the Rev. Isaac Eichards on the text St. John iv, 38, "Others have laboured and ye have ectered into their labour." After the Berviea the annual meeting was held in the Cathedral Schoolroom, which was well filled. The Rev. Canon Robinson took tho chair.

The annual report, after expressing thankfulness for steady progress in the work, mentioned that one school had joined the union (Leith Valley). The lessons contained in the St. Paul's series of the," Manual of Christian Doctrine" had btea taught, and would ba used this present year. The " Manuals " being also used; in the schools not yet enrolled but would be shortly. TO9 scholars' examination had been held as usual, with 341 candidates from 12 schools, being an increase of one school and 40 children on tbe previous yeat. Twenty teachers had presented themselves for examination and had passed with good percentages. Mr C. H. Statham examined the scholars, and the Eev. Canon Robinson the teachers. Quarterly meetings had been regularly held, when papers on various phases of. the union's work had been read ; while nine eomixiitttc meetings had been held to order the detail work. The treasurer's statement showed t'jo receipts to have been £25 12s 9d from subscriptions, donations,.and sals of bookß ; while tha expenditure had been £16 17s 8d ; leaving a ealance of £8 15s Id. On the. motion of JSr T/athen the report was adopted. Mr H. W. Herman was re-olected hon. sacretary and Mr Brickell treasurer.: A hearty vote of thsuka' was passed to the committee. During tiia evening musical items were ' contributed, and refreshments were supplied by a committee of ladies.
