NORTH-EAST VALLEY BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The monthly meeting of the North-East Valley Borough Council was held last night, and was attended by the Mayor (Mr Arthur), Crß. Russell, Saoonss, Evans, Bailey, Macandrew, and Campbell.

A; Millar, M.H.R., to act as delegate to protect the interests of smaller boroughs. ' '•.':.<■' * Mr J- Brownie wrofe that he had examined the plans and specifications prepared by the inspector for the formation 6E Birchfield avenue, and stated that he was not in a position to undertake so expensive a work He found that the cost of covers for the culverts would exceed &.W. If the council could provido tha material and grant a subsidy towards the work he would be willing tp. do what he could, as far as his means would allow him, towards making the road.—The clerk' was, instructed to write and ask Mr Brownie>to deposit £9 (estimated cosb of the work) with the treasurer, upon which the council would itself undertake the work in accordance with the amended plans Hnd specifications, the'money to ba deposited within seven days..-v •■ ■"■" ~\
