Monday, July 22. (Before Messrs J. B. Thomson and-M. Sullivan J.P's.) ' Alleged Theft. -William Johu lones was charged with the theft, on the 20th April, at Invercargill, of £17 5s 3d, the moseys of the lnvercargill Pine Company. -Mr Solomon appeawd for accused.-Sergeant O'Neill stated that accused was arrested on Saturday night Hear lug the po'.sca were looking for him, he came to the station and gave himself up. As the matter occurred at lnvercargill the sergeant asked for a remand to that place.-Mr Solomon had no objection to the remand. He was not eoine-tn ask f.>r any bail, but that the case might be remanded to Friday, not Wednesday, the date mentioned by Sergeant O'Neill. He (Mr Solomon) was going down to luvercargill to defend Innes and might not be able to go there an Wednesday —The case was remanded to Friday next Drunkenness. - Annie Pilet, alias Margaret Jackson, was" charged-with this offence -On thp application of Sergeant O'Neill, who stated that the accused while m the lock-up on Sunday mom ing became very ill, and had to be removed to' the hospital, r,nd that the doctor had said that she would not be able to attend court before Monday next the accused was remanded. Two fiS offenders were convicted and discharged and one was fined ss, with the alternative of 24 hoVir, ?n gaol.
