Press A33ociation—By Telegraph—Copyright. Brisbane, July 22. Details have been received of the wholesale poisoning of shearers at Bowen Downs. Right men were poisoned in the first batch and 49 in the sacoad. The crime was effected, by mixing arsenic in the bread and in a meat pudding. An eye-witness describes the scene as horrible; men writhing about in every direction. One man died, and others are in a dangerous condition. The polic-3 hays bsen despatched to the acene.
Last year Bowea Downs was concerned in the strike difficulties, and many freo labourers were taken on, and are still retained. Ths perpetrators of tha crime are as yet untraced.
