Bib,—The Whangaroa, 131 tons, has letely arriv?d-.froai the West Coast r with. a cargo of railway sleepers, mostly for the ' Catlins river railway. ,' _ Can .yon believe that into the finest black pine timber district of the colony the Government are sending silver pine sleepers, costing about 3s 8d cash delivered at Port Chalmers, and by the time they are railed, to Glenomarn 'they will cost 4s ? Where is the vistilant eye of the ■ Clufcha member ? Surely this is extravagance with a vengeance, and when the sawmills in that fumed district are languishing for want of business. I am, &c, i .
