WELLINGTON SUMMER MEETING.
(?££ Osiisb Fbess Association.)
. , ; . , Wellington, January 21. Tha : Wellington Racing Cinb's Summer meet« iag, which opens te-morrow, is expected to bs one of the most successful for years. There are a large number of visitors in town, and there ia every prospect of fine weather. The acceptors for the Cap are as follow, and all are likely to face the stsrter: —Lottie (Davis) 8,6, Mahaki (Taylor) 8.6, Eoiefnldt (Lindsay) 8.5, Lady Zetland (C. Cochrana) 8.3, Golden Plover (Whittskfjr) 8.3, Ringipuhi (ft Keid) 1.12, North Atlantic (White) 7.10, West. mera (F. Kingan) 7.9, Princess Hay (Watt) 6.12, Porepo (L. Matthews) 6.8, Arius (Connopl 6.7. ......
Lotiia and Mahaki ais decided favourites, but there is little money for either. The sfcabla connection is anxious to get a bit more about Golden Plover, who is a point longer than tha other pair. North Atlantic and Lady Zetland ara easier, the former owing to the manner in which he finished np a gallop this morning. Rangipuhi is evidently short of a winding gallop o( two, but his party are Gang-nine that he will ran well forward. Weatmere hes a small fol« lowiug, and Princess May is looked upon.as a dangerous outsider. Arius, one of tfie-Wai« rarapa contingent, is nibbled at by Wairarapa people at long odds, and on his New Year's Daj ioim they think he will finish among the front division. Epsefeldt appears bright, and though she appeared to disadvantage with Mahaki on the track this morning, with silk up she may give a different result. Backers ate waiting for the machine to-morrow, but the following may be accepted as th« ruling prices with " books " :—3 to. 1 each agst Lottie and Mahaki, * to 1 Golden Plover, 6 to 1 Lady Zetland, 7 to 1 North Atlantic, 8 to 1 Rosefeldt, from 10 to 25 to 1 the others.
Up to this evening the secretary of the Wellington Racing Club had received nearly £1000 for investment on the machine to-morrow.
North Atlantic is now reported to be amiss.
