(From the Otago Witness, January 10.) We hare from time to time received communications from valued subscribers intimating that they would be glad for a religious column to be started in the Witness. Wa are alwayß ans'.ous to suit our readers' tastes, bo far as it is possible to do so, end no doubt this is one of the reasons of the great success which the ?Vitnes3 has hitherto enjoyed as a country and family paper; but until now we have not seen our way to provide a regular column of religious news, although we believe that there are a very large number of homes in which a regular summary, with short sennonettes and devotional paragraphs, wonld be warmly welcomed. It is therefore with pleasure that we are able to intimate in this, the firsb issue for 1895, that we have cow eueceeded in arranging for a column such as that referred to. The gentleman who ■will have charge of it has special fitness for the work, and we have no doubt that the column ■will be a success. Every shade of religious thought and life will, so far as it cau be done, be represented, the intention hcinir to sympathetically notice and report in brief, the best and most important of that which is going on I «&d is hsing said in ths religious world. j
