ANGLING NOTES.

Mr J. Robertson on Monday made an excursion to the upper waters of the Leith, and commencing at the paper mill took 27 fish, nil of whioh were, however, small.

Mr S. Goldsmith, who has been fishing tho Owaks and Glenomaru rivers lately, reports them aa being plentifully stocked with fish, but low. The Glenotnaru fish are heavier on the whole than in previous years, and generally run about 21b to 2£lb. - Very little fishing has beea done in this stream except by local anglers, and even they have not plied the rod with any great degree of persistency owing to the very low stato o£ the water.

Mks S. A. Allen's Wokld's ILun Kestouer never fails to restore grey hair to its youthful colour, cleanses the scalp, removes dandruff,

The competition on the Shag river, for the Anglers' Association's gold and silver medals was held on Saturday, and up to the present the retui'os ate :Mr J. Robertson, 14- fish, 121b Boz (heaviest Qah, lib 12oz) ; Mr J. Ogg, Bfi»h, lllb Uoa; »ud Mr W. Aitken, 11 fish, 101b Soz. Trie water was very low and clear, and nearly &U the captures were effected with the creeper, the minnow being successfully used iv some instances. It is understood that Mr Robertson took all his fish out of Munro's pool. Several returns lwve not been sent in, and this puts the sfeccetary at a disadvantage iv arriviDg at anything like a satisfactory conclusion as to who are the successf al competitors. It is stated that one of the competitors secured a larger basket than any of the foregoing, but for some reason the return h»3 not been forwarded, s« the take cannot be recorded.

It may be as well to rewind anglera that for the bare fly competition, for the Acclimatisation Society's gold and silver medals, which takes place on th« Waipahi river on bhp Bth November, it is necessary to enter six-clear days before that date, A competition aloo takes place en the-day following, iv the Waiwi-ra Btrp.ftin, for the president of the Anglers' Acs eiatla's priz% and a trophy presented by Mr K. Goldsmith.
