COUNTY COUNCILS CONFERENCE.
(Pkk United I'kkss Association.) Weixikgton, August 7. A conference of delegates from county councils was opened to-day, Hutt, Horowhenua, Manawatu, Stratford, Lake, Wairarapa South Rud North, Pahiatua, Inangahua, Akarea, Southland, Waikato, Raglan, Selwyn, Patea, and Kaikoura counties being _ represented. There was a division of opinion as to whether road boards should be allowed representation on the proposed county association, hut ultimately it was unanimously I resolved —"That a county councils association !be established on the basis of tho Municipal Association of New Zealand, and thufc the members of (ho association 'cc elected by councils where the Counties Act is in operation, and by road boards where tho Counties Act is not I in operation." •
