(Per United Press Association.) Gishorne, August 7. The Supreme Court was occupied all day with tha caso Crawford and Others v. Dunlop, ia which plaintiffs, who are the eight hotelkeepecs of Gisborne, sued Mrs Dafllop, writer of a letter in the Herald on March 13 headed " Revelations of the Trade," and her husband for £2500 damages for alleged libel. Defendants' counsel claimed that now women were given the franchise the husband could not be joined in the case, but Mr Justice Conolly said he would not like to decide to that effect. The letter contained charges of gambling, robbing druaben men, adulteration of liquors, employment of women of the lowest reputation, and that the publicans annually robbed the public of £30,000. Justification was not pleaded, and the issue will be confined to whether tha letter is a libel and tho amount of damages.
