The Bank of England returns published to-day show the total reserve in notes and bullion to be £23,718,000, the proportion of reserve to liabilities being 6570 per cent.

New Zealand frozen mutton: First quality, 4Jd; second quality, 3Jd. Market depreaaed. Lamb : First quality, ""Jd. There is no beef (hindquarters)! in the market. ! Hemp ia quiet. One hundred and ninety bales of New Zealand hemp were offered, but had to be bought in. Sugar: Best German beet, lis 6d; Java do, Ks 3d flat. No. 1 best Scotch pig iron (f.o.b. in Clyde), 42s 9d, steady. Danish butter, 101s.
