Saturday, April 28. (Before Mr W. Elder, J.P.)

Vagrancy.—Mary Robinson was charged with keeping a disorderly houso and with having insufficient means of support.—Accused pleaded not guilty—Sergeant O'Neill stated that the accused led an idle and disorderly life. She resided in a three-roomed cottage in George street, and the place was ill-furnished and badly kept. The woman frequently gave way to drink and lived on the prostitution of her daughter.—Accused denied the statements of thesergeant, and stated that she had an order whereby she could go to the Benevolent Institution.—Sergeant O'Neill observed that that was so. The woman could either go to the Benevolent Institution or to the Salvation Army Home, but she declined to do either.— His Worship decided to give the woman a chance to go to the Benevolent Institution. If she did nofc go there that day she would be brought up on Monday and sentenced to three months' imprisonment with hard labour. Ellen Robinson, daughter of the accused in the previous case, was also charged with vagrancy. —His Worship also decided to give her a chance of going to the Benevolent Institution, aud ehe was toid if she did not do so she would have to go to gaol.

Cattle Wanbbring.—Por allowing cattle to wander at, large E. S. Clarke and John Mitchell were each fined Is, without costs.
