t At the meeting of the North-East Valley i. Borough Council held last evening there were c present the Mayor (Mr David Anderson), Crs i J. Campbell, A. Russell, Schlotel, D. M'Gregor, f J. Arthur, J. Evans, and Short. ;- . JtEtafeTS. b , The Finance Committee reported that the sum c of £111 7s 4d had been banked since the 15th of I January, and that all accounts passed for payt ment at the previous meeting of the council ) had been paid. That the bank overdraft to ,t date was —Dr. borough fund account, £118518s v lid (less credit interest account £12s Id), —the y.- total overdraft being £108 7s 8d below the t statutory limit. The committee recommend c that accounts be passed for payment to the i, total amount of £89 18s lid.—The report was n adopted, Cr Schlotel alone objecting to an t account for repairs to roads not conveyed to the y borough. d The Works Committee reported that the c surfacing contract and the contract for an d asphalt channel at Calton terrace, wera making c satisfactory progress ; also that the contractor s for breaking metal at Fine Hill had started his i. work, and the committee recommended that the y inspector be empowered to arrange for getting d it delivered on to Woods's road at a cost not :f exceeding Is per yard; and that three persons I, had been fined for allowing horses to wander at I, large. The committee submitted specifications c prepared by the order of the council for laying i- a pipe drain from the Main road to Lindsay's 'b creek, through section 4, North-East Valley d subdivision, and recommended them for adoption. c With reference to the question of the existence c or otherwise of a publio promenade around ,c Lindsay's creek ak Selwyn, the committee :e recommended the council to appoint a com:r rnittee consisting of his Worship the c Mayor and Cr Schlotel and the town clerk to .c further investigate the matter in the Lands and ie Survey Office and report to the council. Ie A letter was read from Mr John M'Lean, re Felix street, Selwyn, complaining of a nuisance ie caused by refuse from Parker aud Co.'s tane, nery, and requesting its removal.—Referred to ie the Sanitary Committee. it Mr Thomas Dagger wrote paying 103 for d tarring footpaths in Calton terrace under proII test.—Received.
