Drunkenness.—Thomas Keating, against whom there were numerous previous convictions, was fined ss; in default 24 hours'imprisonment. 1 Chimney on Fire.—Walter M'Dougall was. fined 2a 6d, without costs, for allowing the chimney of the Phcenix Jam Factory to take fire. : jL Dangerous . Anijial.—Albert Brailey was charged, with being the owner of a dog which rushed out and attacked John Grant vi Forth street ■ on the 12th inst.-Sergeant O'Neil stated that Mr. Grant was passing along highway when a large bulldog, owned by defendant, rushed at him / an 3 seized him by the leg. He could not get clear : of it till someone came to his assistance.—John Grant, an elderly man, having given evidence, the; Bench decided to hear a second charge that a dog:, owned hy defendant was dangerous, and not Kept under proper coatrol.-Sergeant O'Neill said that in this.case the deg was at .large on the 23rd of last month, and rushed into a neighbour s ; house, upset a child sitting m a chair, and was : with the greatest,difficulty got off the Premises.-, Mrs.Treager, the neighbour referred to, g<vve evidence, stating that the 23rd was not the only, occasion the dog had troubled her .When she went in to the Brailey's to conwlnm she got, nothing but cheek and abuse, Mr Brailey saying, ho knew quite well the dog would not bite, and it, could not be kept tied up.
