SHAG POINT SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

Our Shag Point correspondent writes:—"An adjourned meeting of the Pukeviti School Committee, held on Monday evening, was attended by Messrs Fraser (chairman and secretary), M'Leod, Campbell, Whibblcstone, Hodson, Goodley, and Torrance. At the last meeting the chairman refused to put a motion to the meeting or to vacate the chair and business was brought to a standstill. It was then unanimously resolved that the secretary write to the Education Board's secretary and ascertain what the committee should do under the circumstances. It was found that instead of writing as directed, the secretary had sent a long letter to the board giving his reasons for not putting the motion and stating that the committee could not agree on the subject. The chairman was asked to send to the Education Board the resolution as put, and to withdraw the letter sent, as -it did not express the views held by a majority of the committee. As tho chairman declined to do so^ a member called fov a show of hands of those in favour of the chairman vacating the chair. A majority'of hands were held up, and Mr Fraser and Mr M'Leod left the-mecting. Mr A. Gqodley was then appointed chairman. On the motion of Mr Torrance, seconded by Mr Hodson, it was resolved —' That the chairman pyo tern, write to the Education Board asking the board not to consider Mr I'raser's letter, as Mr Handle had been dnly elected for the position of head master by four votes to three.' The acting-chai.'man was authorised to call another meeting for Friday."
