New Plymouth, January 29.
The party who have come from Auckland by the Stratford railway route arrived at 7.30 yesterday evening, and were banqueted1 at Stratford. The only difficulty in the way of making roads is a gorge at Tanganaraka river, and the country is said to be suitable for pastoral purposes.
Wellington, January 29. The Times this morning publishes in parallel columns articles on the dairy industry from the Scotsman of December 3 and from the New Zealand Mail of June 26. The two are almost identical, and the Scotsman, which is the leading paper in Edinburgh, has evidently been imposed on by someone who has stolen the article with a few slight alterations.
Christchurch, January 29. At the Bible Christian, New Zealand district, meeting the Rev. J. Orchard was elected president. The first draft of stations was prepared as follows:—Christchurch, Rev. J Orchard; Addington, Rev. F. T. Read ; Templeton, Rev. W. Gregg; Dunedin, Rev W Ready; Belfast, Rev. F. Quintrell; Wellington, Rev. J. Crewes; Cromwell, Rev. B. H.
