Oamaru, January 10.
The Remington-Lee rifles are generally condemned by all who have used them. This morning, while one of the rifles was being fired, it was rendered useless, the mechanism of. the lock being much injured ; part of the woodwork was blown off. The marksman had his eye injured. Out of 35 cartridges used by Lieutemutcolonel Sumpter, live mi-ssed fire, two other .-hots failing short at 200 yds. The weapon is gens-ally distrusted here.
