We are on the eve of a general election. Electors for heaven's sake bear this terrible dram of the defence vote in mind, and demand that it shall be reduced to what it originally was wheu the Atkinson Government left office. The Russian scare is over, aud there is no necessity tor the absurd army of colonels, majors, &c.,&c, or even the full-blown " major-general."
