Auckland, July 25. A deputation from the Pharmacy Board waited upon the Hon. E. Mitchelson yesterday with the view of pointing out the amendments which are necessary in the Pharmacy Act to make it useful and workable. Mr Mitchelson promised that the question should have due consideration. It appears that any person putting " chemist and druggist" over his shop door renders himself, liable to a penalty of £5 unless registered; but that if he do not do so ho may sell drugs, &c. without the least hindrance.

The City Council yesterday received a report from Mr Holroyd, electrical engineer, on the best method of lighting the Queen's Wharf and the principal streets with electric light. The roporfc was referred to the Streets Committee. It is stated that the proposed electric lighting will be much more expensive than gaa.

Professor Tucker, and Mr Buckland, member for Franklin North, are candidates for the vacant seat on the Education Board. Charles Haynes, 14 years old, has been committed for trial on a charge of. breaking iito four shops and stealing various, small articles therefrom. He is also accused of. breaking into the Wesleyan School and stealing £C from the missionary boxes.
