SPECIAL TELEGRAM.
(from'our own correspondeft.) Wellington, July 25. it is stated that an attempt is to be made to upset the Te Aro election, on the ground that a number of aliens voted. The Post is responsible for the statement that the Hon. C. J. Pharazyn, notwithstanding the fact of his beiDg disqualified for an illegal practice, voted at the Poxton election, thereby rendering himself liable to a penalty not exceeding £100. It appears that his name is on the ordinary roll for that district, and not on the supplementary roll of persons convicted of corrupt and illegal practices, as it ought to have been, and as it is in the case of the Thorndon electorate. ■Another election rumour is that the majority of Mr Wilson, for Foxton, having proved to be ocly five, a scrutiny is to be demanded. Mr George Fisher, our new member for South Wellington, at the formal declaration of the poll to-day, protested against the newspapers having classed him as a Vogelite, and stated that he should enter the House a thoroughly independent member.
