THE AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS IN ENGLAND.

(Redteb's Telkqramh.) London, July 24, (Received July 25, at 9.60 p.m.) Tho Australian Cricketers commenced a match to day at Brighton against an eleven of Sussex county, represented by five Gentlemen —Messrs W. Blackman, R. T. Ellis, W. Newham, H. Whitfield, and G. N. Wyatt—and six Players—W. A. Humphreys, Arthur Hide, J. Juniper, H. Phillips, Joßse Hide, and W. A. Tester. There was a good attendance of spectators, great interest .being taken in the match, and fine weather was experienced throughout the day. Tho Home, team went in first, and remained in all day, the score standing (it 387 when the stumps were drawn, with bne wicket still to fall. The batting of Wyatt and Phillips was excellent, and both exceeded the century, the latter being not out. The principal scorers were :— WhifcQeld, bowled.. .. ..34 Wyatt, bowled .. ~ '.! 112 Philips, not out .. .. " 109 Total for nine wickets .. ~ 337
