DUNEDIN SOUTH.
TO THE EDITOB, _ Silt,—la reference to. your strictures on ths delay in declaring the numbers for this district, I may state that had the same facilities been afforded as in other places there would not have been any apparent delay. For instance, in the Central district 993 voted .distributed, in three ballot-boxes, with an official staff for each; whereas for Dunedin South 898 votes were placed in a single box, with one set of officials only; hence, I believe, the delay. From my observations of this' polling-booth, p9rmit me to say that it was the most miserable place I have attended for such a purpose during a residence of 24 years in this ■'.'■'-'' Britain of the South. July 24.
