The match was resumed and concluded today. The weather was fine, and the attendance large. The Australians, with 73 runs for four wickets down, sent in Midwinter and Giffen. The latter was caught when he had made 5, and on|Spofforth joining Midwinter the latter was bowled. Boyle became Spoffbrth's partner, and about 20 runs were added before a separation was effected, Spoffurth being caught when he had 11 to his credit. Palmer was the next man, but neither he nor Boyle was able to make a stand, Boyle being bowled for 10. Scott then came to the wickets, and succeeded in running up a well-played 31, when Palmer was dismissed, being bowled for 13. Blackham, 6ho last man, was injured by the ball shortly after going in, and was compelled to retire. The innings |thus closed for 145 runs, Scott carrying out his bat for 31, EDgland thus won the match by an innings and five runs.
