Another cas6 of variola is reported, and the patient is said to bo in a critical state. Calma has been scratched for the Melbourne Cup.

In the Legislative Assembly this evening Mr Berry stated that the doctor at the sanitarium had pronounced the disputed cases of disease to be undoubted smallpox. Mr Berry added that the Government proposed to replace I)r Youl at an early date.

Arrived, this afternoon; The Union Steam Ship Company's Hauroto, from Wellington. Sailed, this afternoon: Arawata, for Auckland. The Land Bill passed through Committee in the Legislative Assembly last night, and the third reading has been fixed for Tuesday next. Adelaide, July 24.

The manager of the branch of the Bank of Tasmania at Beaconsfield, a town 33 miles north-west of Launceaton, was stuck up last night, and the keys of the Bank taken from him.- Subsequently the Bank was entered, and cash to the amount of £2500 abstracted. The police are now in pursuit of the robbers.
