SUPREME COURT AWARDS. TO THE EDITOR.
Sir, —In tho recent awards which have boon :ivcn to sufferers by accident through the Alleged carelessness of companies' servants, I lotieo that the private company havo had to lay by fur tho heaviest damages. L should ike to know why such is the case. In the case if the private company it may perhaps abiolutely ruin somo of tho shareholders, whilst my reasonable- damages would not atfect the government in such a sorious manner. Is the aw equal and just, or is it of a pliable nature, nade to mean anything iv the hands of skilful awyers ?—I am, &c, Not a Lawyer. Octobor 17th.
