DISTDBBINa THE PjEACE.—-JFohs Mltchcll and George Payton, were charged with having broken the peace by fighting. Mitchell, who was not present, was fined 20a; a penalty of 10u being inflicted on George Payton. Offences a« autrx the Town andCountsy Police Ordinance.—James Clarkson, for riding on a dray without holding reins, was fined 1 s and costs. A similar penalty was inflctod on L. Macdonald, for carrying on a dray timber which extended out on each side and caused an obstruction. A. and J. Macfarlane, for neglecting to keep control over a horse and vehicle, were fined 5s and costs. John Fletcher was lined 2s for allowing cowa to stray; and William Puddy was fined Is for a similar offence. James Robinson waa charged by Inspector Nimon with allowing a cow to stray. Mr A. Carrick gave ttvidence of damage done by the animal in'his garden. A penalty of 20a and coats was indicted.
