RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COORT.

DISTDBBINa THE PjEACE.—-JFohs Mltchcll and George Payton, were charged with having broken the peace by fighting. Mitchell, who was not present, was fined 20a; a penalty of 10u being inflicted on George Payton. Offences a« autrx the Town andCountsy Police Ordinance.—James Clarkson, for riding on a dray without holding reins, was fined 1 s and costs. A similar penalty was inflctod on L. Macdonald, for carrying on a dray timber which extended out on each side and caused an obstruction. A. and J. Macfarlane, for neglecting to keep control over a horse and vehicle, were fined 5s and costs. John Fletcher was lined 2s for allowing cowa to stray; and William Puddy was fined Is for a similar offence. James Robinson waa charged by Inspector Nimon with allowing a cow to stray. Mr A. Carrick gave ttvidence of damage done by the animal in'his garden. A penalty of 20a and coats was indicted. Informations by Inspector Nimon.— Margaret Foote, Mary Mooncy, Beany and Williams, Mary Ann Palmer, AnnieRivers, Thomas Hudson, were each fined 5a and coats, for neglecting to keen clean premises; Godfrey Jacobs was fined 2s for a like offence. ,
