WAITAKI HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

1 The monthly meeting of the Waitaki •and Charitable Aid Board was held this morning, there being, present: Messrs. Dovcv (Chairman). Mahoney, Milligan, Taylor, Eraser, Nicholson, Macfarlane. Mr Finch wrote apologising for his absence. . - - The Health Inspector reported five new cases of scarlet fever during the month. Advice was. also received of three deaths from tuberculosis and one from septic poisoning.' A few cases of chicken pox were also reported, but it was satisfactory to note that there were no new cases or infantile paralysis. The Health Inspector also reported that after much correspondence and negotiation the condemned house in number street had been made fit for habitation. ...

The matron of the Victoria Home reported having started' the month with 35* inmates. During the month- three were admitted and two discharged, the present number of inmates being 2S males and 8 females. The general health of the inmates had been fair with one exception. The following donations were received with thanks:—Box of tea and clothing, a Friend; clothing, Mrs Calder, books, Mrs M'Kellar; cakes, Messrs M'lntosh ; books, Mr Patterson ; papers, Mrs Rosie. and Mr Chase. ,

The Visiting Committee reported having visited the Home and loving found everything in "the usual good order. There were three inmates ; in the hospital ward and with these exceptions the general health was fair. The Committee advised that-the ilrr-in had been finished and is giving s; i:sfaction and recommended some renovating to be attended to after the winter.

"The following tenders for supplies, etc., were accepted:—Groceries, W: Bee; meat, P. 15. Johnston; funerals, John Moore. Accounts amounting. to £229 0s Id were passed for payment.
