A meeting of the Committee was held in the'.'Association rooms on Saturday, at 2.30 p:'m. Mr J. Bitchener (president) presided, over an •attendance of 16 members... "" .. • ■ ■• ' • '- . The Secretary of the South Canterbury Education Board wrote thanking tho'Committee for its offer of a piece of land for school agriculture, and regretting ' ,that; there . would be' no op-portunity,-of using the land. .-•'.■ Sir \V. J. Steward wrote,, in reply to letters on the matter of an extended lease of a section adjoining the Show Ground, and in regard to an experimental farm for South Canterbury.— The president reported that a deputation waited the Hon. T.. Mackenzie oii his recent visit to Waimatc,; but the result had not been very, encouraging". An experimental farm was still a question for the future. Timaru advised that their show would be held on the 25th and 26th October, and Ellesmerc notified that October:l9th!was.their date this yearReceived. . .

Mr Francis was authorised to procure similar medals as last year for presentation at the Winter Show in the grain classes. Resolved to hold the annual meeting on Saturday, Jnne 10th. The treasurer stated that the balance-sheet would probably show a credit of from £lls to £l2O.

A plan of the old Show Ground prepared by Mr Orboll was submitted to the meeting, and a general discussion ensued as to the desirability or otherwise of goii--• back to the old ground: The president spoke strongly against going back to. .the old. ground. Mr Qlievcrton was equally against remaining, on the. Racecourse under the present conditions. Several members spoke in regard to the matter, it being shown that there was a resolution on the minutes to recommend the general meeting to go. back to the old ground.— A sub-committee was appointed to draw up suggestions of improvements at the Racecourse for submission to the annual meeting. ... Accounts amounting to £3O 16s -id were passed "for payment.
