BACHELORS' BALL AT WINDSOR.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Much pleasurable"'anticipation is always indulged in by the residents cf Windsor for this annual fixture, for they are certain that a very enjoyable night will be provided for them. On all previous occasions nothing but encomiums were passed upon the management, and when it is stated that this season's ball can justly claim to be classed as the most successful, a notion mav be gathered of how pleasurably the night was spent. All arrangements were Mr T. Drennan as chairman., who . with his energetic secretary, Mr John Johnston,' and a willing and capable committee, carried out the task in a manner that left no room for failure. The decorations added much to ' the brightness of the halt,. and their arrangements reflect creditably otv the artisti cskill of Those to whom' this part of the preparations was entrusted. Punctually at half-past eight Mr Drennan, supported. by his secretary arid committee-, appeared on the stage, and in appropriate terms tendered a hearty welcome : to the guests. Then followed the grand march, led by Miss Gray and Mr Johnston, and directed, through, its various evolutions by the.genial.M.C.. Mr Cormick. Forty-two couples took part in the grand march, but this number scarcely represents half of the guests. At intervals during the evening songs were sung by Mrs Kelly (Queen's Flat) and Miss Brown (Oamaru), a jig was danced by Mr Wells, and a hornpipe by Mr Barry. Each item was received with demonstrations of much approval. Miss--Richar.ds.on p]ayed r - ; as an extra, a Tyaltz :in,.excf>llerit time-, with with finished 'execution'. Mr Livingstone conveyed the thanks of the guests to the bachelors. In his.-usual vein, he anticipated numerous matrimonial results from this bachelors' ball of 1911. The music was played,by Miss Mason and Mr Shcrvrin, and its excellence was alarge, in the night's enjoyment, and tlic Slipper, presided over by Miss Owens, was.,;in entire keeping with all tho other arrangements.
