(Per Phess Association.; Christchurch, May 12. Mr Bishop, S.M., to-day declared void the poll recently taken in Fendalton riding of Waimakariri County on.the question of forming af borough. The proposal was declared carried "by 149 votes to 139, but the" result was objected to on the ground that polling had been allowed to continue till 7 p.m.. and that plural voting had been permitted. Mr Bishop said he did not want to give a decision on the matter of plural voting without agreement of both sides, but he was satisfied the -e----turning officer had no right to keep the poll open till 7 o'clock, and on that ground he declared the poll void.
