The contributions to the sustentation 1 fund amounted to £ioo 18s Gd, an increase of £7 13s Od over last year, and the Church collections to £l3l lS)s od, an increase of £9 Ds lid over the same pero'd The- Church collection total is the highest in the history of the parish. !•: addition to the ordinary expenditure, the following sums had been paid to the general treasurer in Wellington : For Church extension £U) 4s (it!, Maori mission £9 14s "2d, foreign missions £2B 15.; 9d, Knox College £3 Bs, young peoples' fund £l, Dunedin Orphanage £4, - sustentation fund of Otago and South- - land £ll. The .Moderator, and members generr.llv, expressed satisfaction and thank- [ fulness that the finances of the parish 3 continued in the sound condition main- '■ tained for manv years past. r Mr I'aterson was cordially thanked s for liis past services as treasurer, and , was reappointed to the office for the ,- current year. Votes of thanks were also passed to f the auditors, Messrs R. A. Stenhouse . and J. Keen, to the- lady collectors-of r the sustentation fund at Enfield, [ Misses Mahoney and Stirling, and also to the lady collectors of the mission t funds hi the various centres. r Mr I'aterson gave particulars of the I Presbyterian Church of New Zealand tire insurance fund, after discussing J which the meeting decided to take the ~ necessary steps to place the "SYaiareka i properties in connection with the fund. The Committee set up last year to l confer with the Sunday School superintendents and teachers on tho best ~ means to ensure practical support and 1 the attendance of the scholars at tho Church services was continued in office. ? At this stage Mr l'aterscn was voted 1 to the chair whilst reference was made to the minister and his work in the parish. t On the motion of Mr J. A. Taylor, u seconded by Mr J. Don, it was unanir mously agreed to grant him £2O from P the balance in hand. Tho Moderator briefly acknowledged 7 the kindness of the office-bearers in re- ■ cognising his eii'orts to fulfil the duties of the ministry. No one knew better ' than himself how faulty even his best I service was, but their kind considera- ' tion and helpfulncs were, a source of jo*eat satisfaction and encouragement to him. j At the close of the meeting afternoon tea was provided by Mrs Standriug.
