PERSONAL.
Mr A. Murray, who for some time past has occupied a position in the clerical division of the local railway staff and has received notice of his promotion to Lawrence as stationmaster, was met by his fellow employees in the railway library hall on Friday evening and presented with an enlarged photograph of the officers of the North Otago Railway Institute, as showing the respect in which he is' held. Mr Duncan, who made the presentation on behalf of the donors in one of his usual happy speeches, referred to Mr Murray's many good~qualities. Eulogistic speeches were also made by Messrs M'Nab, AVestphal, and Whilans. Mr Murray feelingly • returned thanks. ,
Mr George Callender, representing the Hellers' Company of Mystic Comedy Makers, is at present in Oamaru completing arrangements for the appearance of his company on Monday and Tuesday next (September 6 and 7). ■.■■.•■■_■ = ■■■
