ITALY IN ABYSSINIA.
(By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (per united press association.) Received March 13, at 1.20 a.m. London, March 12. Sixty thousand volunteers have offered themselves for service in Abyssinia. Tho populace cheered tho reinforcements as they embarked. The latest news is that the Shoas are advancing, and have readied half-way to Adigrat. Received March 11, at 10.30 a.m. Rome, March 12. King Menclelc is willing that Italy should retain the March frontier lino. Negotiations for peace have been opened and the departure of the troops has boon postponed in consequence. General Baratieii is prostrated physically and mentally. He admits that in a moment, of rash impulse he gave ordors to attack, hoping that the Shoas would retire and enable the Italians to obtain provisions, and thus avoid having to retreat to the Coast.
