(by telegraph.) Napier, March 18. The following verdict was returned afc the inquest on the body of the man Donald Mackay, drowned in a boating fatality at Clive: "That deceased was drowned by the capsizing of a boat, such capsize being caused by his own act while temporarily insane."

A shocking fatal accident occurred at Greymouth on the 12th inst. to a little girl named Kiely, a»ed about five years, a daughter of Mr Terence Kiely, carpenter. It appears that a heap of rubbish deposited in William-street had been cet on fire, and the child, who was playing about, fell into it. Her screams were heard by a young man named Thomas Costello, who pulled her out of the fire and took her to ber home, but unfortunately she was past human aid, and after lingering a few hours she died. The coroner's jury added a rider to their verdict recommending the police to disallow the depositing of paper or other inflammable material in the street.
