PROHIBITION.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l see that "Moderate" has replied to my letter with repeated insinuations that the only good agitation in favor of Prohibition will do, is to lead to "a better observance of the law regulating the conduct of public houses" under license. That is the only good that would result from putting forward other but moderate candidates if all the people were to think as "Moderate" thinks, and meant to vote as "Moderate" means to. But we knuw they don't, and tlie people of Oamaru are too well enlightened to swallow his remark. Would you kindly hand him the enclosed pamphlet entitled "Does Prohibition Prohibit," which, if it doesn't convince him, is, I am confident, sufficient argument and evidence for tlie bulk of the ratepayers.—l am, etc.. Prohibitionist.
