THE SYDENHAM LICENSING COMMITTEE.

TO THE EDITOK Sue,—The news that we have from Chrisichurch, of Judge Denniston's judgment 011 the Sydenham appeal, is somewhat indefinite ; yet it seems clear that Judge Deimiston has recognised the important issues at stake, and decided, on that account, to allow an appeal. Such a judgment does not, nor would any adverse Supreme Court judgment, affect our proposal to elect a Prohibition Committee to represent our interests on the Licensing Bench. Such a Committee may be relied upon to conserve the true interests of the people in accordance with the law, so far as that law will allow them, but we had proof that the Moderate Committee, being elected largely by the publicans and their friends, can not be relied upon. I am, etc., Prohibitionist.
